Makes you wander what else has been done without care and thought. Does make me sound like a rivet counter though... I think the 3 or 4 people who'd like to enjoy this car are there on the market for it and will pay the money that's asked. IMO this car is not about the details . . .

Not noticed this one mentioned. British specialist car maker Tornado Cars Ltd of the late 50s built the grp bodied Tornado Sportsbrake around 1959/1960 (which pre-dates the Scimitar GTE by some time), probably as a one-off, after the bosse's wife complained of not enough room to carry her daughter and the dog! It is rumoured 2 more were built but there was definitely the one pictured and amazingly it turned up chassis-less in the USA 3 years ago, as you can see with the orig registration still intact.

That looks great...I wonder why he didn't put the Evo mirrors on ? It did end up with the Evo mirrors. I have a picture of it somewhere but will seek permission first before posting. Needless to say the shots were fantastic !

I don't think anyone has mentioned the Triumph Vitesse Estate. Surely, with a 2 litre engine, four seats and a relatively enormous load area, this high-power version of the Herald Estate/Courier van, would have accurately targeted the niche market that later bought the Scimitar Estate. In fact about twenty were sold, that were cobbled together from Herald Estates, Vitesse engines and panels from the parts dept at the Standard-Triumph Park Royal Service Depot. Because they were complete cars that had to be rebuilt after they came off the production line, they were far more expensive than they need have been and never went into production. A few genuine cars still exist: http://homepage.ntlworld.com/l.benfield/norfolk-ts... While more have been modified:

Me too, all it needs is a repaint in a sensible colour scheme It looks like the 'boot' of a random estate has just been nailed on by a blind man to me. The window line doesn't match at all which is why I can't see it as 'one car'. Each to their own though.
