The launch edition will come as standard in Ardent Red or British Racing Green and, on top of the three main equipment packs, gets bi-xenon headlamps, top of the range audio and ’leccy mirrors. There’ll also be a dash-mounted plaque to remind the first 450 owners what lucky b******* devils they are.
Evora production is already underway at Hethel, and will be in full swing by July when the company aims to be building 34 Evoras each week. Deliveries start in May, and once the launch edition is out of the way in around three months, the line should have settled down sufficiently to allow customers to play with the specification and options list on their own.
The first option ‘regular’ Evora buyers will face then is whether to specify two or four (2+2) seats. The standard two-seater will cost £48,450 on the road, while the 2+2 adds £2,375 – a hefty price just to keep the kids happy on the school run!
The Tech Pack costing an extra £2,495 upgrades the Alpine stereo, adds a 150watt subwoofer, a 7ins touchscreen display, satnav, cruise control, rear parking sensors, tyre pressure monitors and the all-important Bluetooth ‘connectivity’.
The Premium Pack gets you full leather interior trim for another £2,495, but the Sport Pack looks much better value at £950. It delivers a switchable sports mode that enhances throttle response and increases the yaw and slip thresholds of the traction control, a sports diffuser, cross-drilled brake discs and an engine oil cooler.
There’s a three year, 60,000 mile warranty, and Lotus boasts the Evora will have class-leading economy and emissions – 32mpg on the combined cycle and 205 g/km CO2, as if you really cared…
