Porsche has officially confirmed that it will keep the new '991' 911 range - due at this autumn's Frankfurt motor show - free from KERS-style power-boost systems or range-extender models, and that if it does a hybrid 911 it will more than likely be a plug-in.
Responding to recent rumours that an F1-inspired KERS hybrid system would be used on the next 911, a 'high-level' source told Autocar magazine that these web rumours were "nonsense".
"The system is currently applied to a race car. Nothing else is planned. The new 911 will not be offered with hybrid drive for the foreseeable future. If and when it is, then it will most likely happen as a plug-in."
So there you have it. Don't believe everything you read on the internet...
