The car is still in remarkable condition given it's 15 years old, however there is some slight corrosion on the wheels and the odd stone chip etc. I’ve had people asking if I wanted to sell the car not so long ago so this should give some idea of how nice the car looks.
The car still has tax, MOT and has just been serviced. There are two previous owners, however the second of these only bought the car to sell on as he realised (unfortunately for me) this is quite sought after car. So really the car has only had two long term owners; Me and a Dr Harris.
Being a design engineer of 8 years I am far more comfortable with servicing vehicles myself, I’ve worked in many a garage whilst I was a student and have witnessed plenty of things I’d not be happy with had it been my vehicle. I’ve always serviced the car within 7,000 miles using Mobil 1 engine oil as it's the only readily available oil with an Ester basestock giving much better engine protection (albeit at a higher cost). The car does have full history up to my ownership however, which started in February 2008 at 75k miles.
Maintenance above and beyond normal servicing:
75k miles
- Whole car under-sealed and wax oiled by J R Classics
- All shock absorbers replaced with OEM Bilsteins
- Differential oil replaced (Redline oil used) + new seals
- Rear CV joints re-greased
- All bushes replaced with Polybushes which will last the lifetime of the car
- New front suspension top mount bearings
90k miles
- New front wishbones with bushes
- Rear brake lines replaced with corrosion resistant copper lines
- Headlights resealed (misting is common on these cars)
105k miles
- New spark plugs (NGK)
- Gearbox oil replaced (Redline oil used)
- Cooling system overhaul as a preventative measure with replacement of: radiator (high quality Hella unit used), water pump, thermostat & thermostat housing
- New fan belt, tensioner + pulley
Other than the rear brake lines, the car’s never ever let me down the whole time I’ve owned her and sails the MOTs. But then as you can see I’m a big fan of preventative maintenance.
I had no intention of ever selling this car, especially as it took me almost a year to find one with the Avus pack which essentially makes it an M3 but with the 2.8 engine & much lower running/maintenance costs. However my annual mileage is set to increase significantly and we need the drive space, but whoever buys will get one heck of a car which shouldn’t need any mechanical work for a long time.
This car is no longer available for purchase.
