Description
For very reluctant sale is my December 2006 "56" BMW 335i steptronic 6sp auto in the best colour - Montego Blue. It is a very high spec model and I cannot possibly list every extra it has. The important ones are below, but it also comes with the usual high end BMW basics - auto wipers/lights/dimming mirrors, bi-xenon headlights, upgraded front AND rear radar parking sensor, dual zone climate control, electric, heated mirrors etc etc.
Also, being a 335i SE it comes as standard with M-Sport suspension, M-Sport seats (the only M-Sport bits worth having). Only the 335i SE got these upgrades, normally only found on the M-Sport models - meaning that the 335i SE had the complete package. I have also added the Genuine M-Sport steering wheel myself. The car also has the Genuine BMW Aero Kit which enhances the looks greatly.
At a glance:
- Multi award winning 306bhp N54 3.0l twin turbo straight-6 petrol engine. One of BMW's greatest - with a fantastic combination of economy and speed.
- On a run I have achieved 38mpg without much trouble. Combined, I am currently on 28mpg with exclusive A road driving. This is obviously excellent for the power avaliable. Shell V-Power/Tesco 99RON fuel used its entire life.
- 62,000 miles
- Full BMW Service History (as well as all other history involved)
- MOT'd until March 2015 (this car has never even had so much as an advisory on any MOT)
- Included is 6 months BMW Fully Insured Comprehensive Warranty (inc recovery) transferrable to the new owner. The car has been under BMW warranty for it's entire life meaning that it has always been maintained without cost being an issue.
- Taxed until December 2014
- 2 previous owners
- Full cream leather, electric, memory, heated M-Sport seats in excellent condition (treated with Autoglym leather cleaner and Leather Conditioner balm every 6 months)
- BMW iDrive system with integrated phone bluetooth control, voice control and the 2013 Navigation disc. It also has the ability to have Google Map locations remotely sent to it from your computer/laptop/phone.
- Genuine BMW iPod/iPhone integration system in glovebox
- Factory upgraded BMW Loudspeaker 8 speaker system with factory subwoofers integrated under the seats.
- Genuine BMW Aero front spoiler
- Genuine MV3 alloy wheels in immaculate condition (fronts refurbished in the last few months using the proper chemical acid paint strip method - NOT the cheap mobile refurbishment that can look shabby after a while. The rears were in almost immaculate condition so it wasn't necessary to refurb them)
- 4 x Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric 2 tyres with lots of tread (rears only replaced 2 months ago!)
- Full KDS Hunter 4 wheel geometry alignment at £85 a go (not the same as the cheap 4-wheel alignments)
- Genuine BMW M-Sport steering wheel
- Professionally fitted Milltek exhaust by previous owner. Note: This is NOT a loud, antisocial or intrusive exhaust at all. It is a very subtle increase to the standard exhaust, does not drone and does NOT affect the BMW Warranty.
- I have the full factory spec print out of the car should the new owner like it.
- 2 key fobs and 1 "service key".
I have owned this car for over 2.5 years and would not be selling it if it wasn't for the inevitable house buying situation I am about to embark on!
It was purchased from a man from the same online community as myself and so I knew the car's history even before I bought it. The previous owner had taken great care of the car (purchased by himself from BMW approved used), and had had the car detailed every 6-12months during his ownership - which is part of the reason why the paint still looks absolutely fantastic. It was my first automatic car and I was unsure until I drove it and found out just how much auto's have progressed the last few years and would definitely have another auto from this car's era onwards without hesitation.
During my ownership, the car has been very regularly washed using the 2 bucket method to prevent swirl marks/scratches, machine polished when needed and sealed and waxed at all times to protect the paint. During the winter months, salt was never allowed to linger on the car and bird contaminants were washed off quickly to prevent damage.
As stated above, the car has been serviced by BMW, always on time (and early), since day one, and the servicing is fully up to date (4000miles+ until next oil service). When I bought the vehicle, I had the biggest service done on the car possible including spark plugs, air filter, cabin filter, brake fluid, oil and filter at great expense. From then on, the car has only needed oil services (and brake fluid), which were again carried out by BMW Main dealers using only genuine BMW parts and Castrol Edge oil. The car has only had BMW Screenwash used to prevent the spray pump clogging when using cheaper screenwash without the anti-algae qualities.
During it's time the car, like every car, has needed repairing - all of which have been done by the main dealer using genuine parts, under the fully comp insured warranty.
- High pressure fuel pump - Replaced with latest revised part.
- Injectors - Replaced with latest revised parts.
- Water pump - well known and at £550 for the BMW only part, would not buy a 335i that had not had this replaced with the latest revised parts. This car has had it done.
- VANOS solenoid and oil pressure switch - inexpensive but replaced at the same time
- Turbo wastegate actuators and reservoir - This was about 6 months ago now - nothing was broken but BMW replaced them with a newer part when it went in for service. During this "repair" the turbos were fully removed from the car by BMW and pressure tested on the bench. The health check showed them to be in excellent health.
All of the parts listed above are the known weaknesses to the car, which most of them have been superseded and replaced with the new stronger revised parts, meaning that the new owner need not worry about them at all and now that these parts have been replaced, I would be happy running the car without the warranty. However, as above, I will transfer the remaining 6 months of the fully paid BMW insured warranty to the new owner for full peace of mind. The vehicle has also been updated to a recent software version.
The car has in the last few months had brand new Genuine BMW front discs and pads fitted (which come with their own 2 year warranty), and has had the rear brakes done last year too.
To sum up, I can hand on heart say this is one of the most accomplished BMW's I have ever owned and I genuinely would not be selling it unless I had to. I am a BMW enthusiast (was it obvious?!) and I have put the money into this car that it needs to keep it how it should be and how BMW intended it to be. The car has been looked after cosmetically and mechanically regardless of expense and even comes with 8 months tax and 6 months BMW warranty for the next owner to benefit from. I have never had a car that has attracted so many random people wanting to know about it and talk about it. The new owner will be able to get in this car and drive away without worrying about anything for months.
Being the age and mileage the car is, it has a some stone chips on the front of the car, but this is to be expected, and it shows that the car has never been in accident either. It also has a couple of very small and minor marks inherited from the last owner but these have never worried me as they are not significant in any way.
Don't be drawn into buying cheaper 335i's. The parts that have been replaced totalled over £4000 including labour and many of them are dealer only parts. Many have not had any attention to the wastegates, waterpumps, injectors or high pressure fuel pumps which WILL need doing at some point and are very expensive.
I have previously had a E46 BMW 330i which was great, but the 335i is just a large step up in every department. I would be looking to go back to a circa £3k BMW 330i if a swap was considered, but i am quite particular about spec/condition!
I do not welcome calls/emails from spammers or people claiming they can sell my car for me.
