1999 Caterham

For sale is Caterham Clubsport chassis number 004 of 5. This car was purchased by the second owner and extensively upgraded from the original 1600 K series engine.

In 2002 the K series engine was replaced by a Roger Ford built 1700 and competed in various hillclimbs and sprints until the end of 2003. In the same year Circuit Driver published a 5 page feature of the car with then editor, Steve Bennett.

The car was further upgraded in 2004 with the addition of a full cage and larger fuel tank before the 1700 engine started developing problems. In 2005 this was replaced with a 1900 scholar block built by Dave Andrews (DVA) which currently resides in the car. The car was mapped at Emerald and produced a very healthy 258bhp and 166lbft. It has since been re-mapped for safety with new injectors and develops 236bhp and 160lbft.

The car further competed in 2007 and 2008 before being stored until 2011. In June 2011 the car was prepared for racing once again by Andy Belcher (Tech7) and included the following work:

•Engine refresh

•Gearbox rebuild

•New pads/discs all round

•Powdercoated suspension components

•Powdercoated roll cage

•New seat

•New belts

•Carbon tunnel kit

The bill from Andy was over £5k but once again car wasn't used and went back into storage until summer 2012. At this point the car was given to Luke Stevens of TeamLeos Motorsport to be prepared for racing once again. Luke prepared the car with the following work:

•New alternator fitted

•New de-dion ears

•New propshaft universal joints

•New injectors

The car was then remapped for safety. At this point the rear oil seal failed meaning the engine had to be removed and so the clutch was relined at the same time. The car has been run but not used for competing since summer 2012.
