Foreword : This is a 100 % rot free example with a documented bare metal
nut & bolt rebuild with over 200 images in hard copy. It has a huge file of
history from new inclusive of every mot from new with ££££s of new and
old stock mint parts. I have deliberated long & hard whether to part company
with this piece of motoring history that has yet to reach it true potential
value, this is the definitive & original working class hero.
My Own Obsession For 12 Months
This is a very, very nice restored example, restoration started in
2009 and has been ongoing since. Nearly everything has been replaced
as listed below. Restored from the bare chassis up, painted inside
outside and underneath and put together with new and mint parts.
Running a Fiesta RS Turbo EFi engine, fully rebuilt with rebuilt
turbo and gearbox.
The cabin was not left out either and has been completely restored
with new old stock items where possible and mint parts otherwise,
everything from the pedal rubbers to under dash carpets, to
cigarette lighter to steering column switch stalks and everything
in between, all perfect, there is no wear to be found anywhere.
This car is ready to turn a key and go anywhere.
It has a huge file of history, all the old Mot's and a presentation
folder with 200 pictures of the chassis restoration and rebuild.
100% mechanical perfection - engine, gearbox and turbo rebuilt, all
new suspension and brakes (covered only 30 (thirty!) miles). New
It's all rebuilt and in beautiful condition with every consumable
item renewed. ££££'s spent on NOS and mint parts.
Concourse
Dare I say mint? I think it is. Was restored in 2009. Bodywork is
concourse, no blisters or dents, no scratches or blemishes. Paint is
perfect all over, not even a tar spot. All windows rubbers and door
seals have been renewed, front and rear lights and decals all new.
Looks exactly as it did on day one when it rolled out the local RS
Dealer 28 years ago.
All usual problem areas like the battery tray and windscreen scuttle,
floor pans and wheel arches under the bodykit are all 100% rot free.
Not just filled and painted over either, this is all proper rot free
metal work. Pristine clean white inside all the wheel arches and
detailed white underside with all new clean parts.
It has covered around 1600-1700 miles since the rebuild. Any teething
problems have been ironed out, it starts and drives, handles and stops
as well as it possibly could. Many of the parts have done a mere 30
(thirty) miles so can still be considered brand new.
Drive
She was rolling road tuned last year and dyno'd at 140bhp, 120 at the
wheels by AVA Turbo in Glasgow. A perfect amount of power, just that
little bit sharper than the stock 130bhp, it suits the car and chassis
perfectly. The suspension is new old stock (Monroe) and is brand new
covered around 30miles since fitting. Has rear brake disc conversion
as a nice upgrade. Every bush throughout the car is Powerflex and it
also benefits from an anti roll bar usually fitted to an RS1600i.
The drive is superb and just as Ford intended. Properly poised and
handles exactly as it should. It brakes properly too with no shudders.
Tracks perfectly straight. Gearbox is a joy, it's lovely and tight not
like stirring soup. The engine is a picture of health and is still just
running in, it's done around 1700 miles. Turbo pulls well, makes a lovely
turbo chatter and blows zero smoke. Lovely warble from the Mongoose
stainless system.
This S1 is ready to show, use or store..
