RS Escorts clinched 1979's World Rally Champoinship after winning the rounds contested in Greece, Portugal, New Zealand, Canada and Britain. Two years later, Ari Vatanen became the World Champion rally driver in the RS Escort. The record also includes winning Britain's RAC rally every year from 1972-1979. Such feats provided Ford Special Vehicle Engineering with a wealth of data when the 1986 Escort RS Turbo was being perfected.

The stunning RS Turbo featured as standard body coloured bumpers, front driving lamps, colour coded rear spoiler, remote control door mirrors, heated rear window, ABS and 15" alloys. This early MkIV RS Turbo was also ordered with the optional extra heated front windscreen and is fitted with all original panels including the date stamps on the front wings and is in a pristine condition. Complete with all handbooks, original bill of sale and having just 2 owners from new, this is a superb rare example.

Fitted with a 1.6 litre CVH fuel injected engine and a Garrett T3 Turbo, it is able to produce an impressive 132 bhp. With a 0-60 of just 8.2 seconds and a top speed of 128mph, the standard anti-lock braking system featured on all RS Turbos is a must and had been lavishly praised by experts during its release.
