The time has come to let someone else enjoy the work done by Britain’s top 2 Honda Tuners. Its a great looking and has an MOT and valid road tax till June 2015.
Guy at CPL racing and Richy Voaden at Performance Autoworks have done a great job of putting together a reliable modded car that looks stock but under the skin is anything but. This has been done without sacrificing comfort, with the air con present and re-gassed last month, all factory electronics working fine like the 4WS, sunroof, the cruise control, the heated seats, all the electric mirrors and windows.
Although the car has done 149,000 miles you would not know it, almost all running gear and suspension has been replaced, the forged engine has a high spec list which has tolerances up to 500 BHP with the turbo capable of up to 500 BHP. This new forged engine has now done 30,000 miles and runs like a top.
It has always been run with a low compression set up with the recent compression test giving 160, 150, 155 & 160. The boost has been set to a sensible 1.1 Bar to give the car long life and on the last Dyno session at Owen Developments produced 360 BHP. Since that session the car had an external High powered Coil pack and 10mm leads with a new Alternator, with the new custom T3 manifold by Alan Chu at Solid Fabrications power has been upped to 380 BHP.
I have a keen interest in Drag racing but with the money put into this project I become mechanically sympathetically and have never taken it down the strip or tracks. The power is controlled by an Apexi Boost control unit and S300 Hondata ECU which with great tuning and the LSD in the Accord type R means that putting the horses to the road is done smoothly and with no torque steer.
The clutchmasters clutch fitted in 2007 has lasted till Feb this year and now a Stage 4 ACT race clutch is now fitted which will last for ages, along with every aspect of the car.
The condition of the body work has been kept excellent meaning that I have had complements and some offers for what is a rare manual car with a high spec. The bonnet and wings were professionally sprayed in March to get rid of stone chips and the original Motegi wheels are sprayed in Anthracite. They have unfortunately become slightly out of shape and can be fixed but I have instead replaced them in May with new 17" Team Dynamics graphite coloured wheels that look the business along with new tyres.
I have done the odd mod myself like the Aluminium heat shields, the Thermo Tec wraps, many of the brackets are powder coated along with a carbon look dress up kit in the interior.
The condition of the chassis and underside of the car is solid and structurally sound as checked by Performance Auto works last month.
The interior is in great condition with the original seats and new matts.
There are MOMO pedals fitted to aid heel and toe driving styles.
