Jaguar Chasseur Stealth TORNADO No 001

This is a bespoke special based on a 1994 Jaguar X300 1994: with modified bodywork, suspension, brakes, steering, transmission, traction control power unit and wheels.

I have owned the car for 4 years during which time it has only been on the road for a total of 6 months. I took it out of storage in December 2013 and recommissioned it for use at my daughter's wedding. It is a car that should be driven and this is a very reluctant sale. The reason I'm selling is because the road tax here in Ireland is €1810 per year or €511 per quarter – I simply cannot afford to run it and as I said it is a car that should be used regularly.

The engine is upgraded to 4.2 twin turbo specification, with blueprinted build specification, hybrid turbos, twin intercoolers and twin air filtration system. The engine is rated at 450 bhp and 500 ft/lbs of torque.

To the best of my knowledge (my son has spoken to Chas Whitaker the creator of this rare car) only 2 of these were actually built.

To give the full description of this car would be impossible so I have scanned the brochure originally used to describe the details of the building of these cars (including the price list....£53,540 incl VAT!!!). I also have an article from Jaguar World May/June 1996 and a fax from Chas Whitaker dated July 2002. I can e-mail these itmes to any interested party on request.

I have a number of receipts for work carried out to the car over the years – including an engine rebuild (to formula one spec) in 2002 totalling £10,500.

My asking price for the car is £6,500. I can arrange to have the car delivered to a new owner.

With regard to bad points:

The only place with rust is the edge of the left had side front wing behind the wheel. When I took the car out of storage in December I had the boot lid, boot lid spoiler and the rear bumper resprayed because the laquer had peeled off the paint. Otherwise the body of the car is in excellent condition.

The "racelogic" steering wheel transmission buttons do not work. These have never worked during my ownership. They appear to be "fly by wire" or radio controlled so I did not interfere with them to try and make them work.

At present one of the front wheel bearings is noisy so we will replace this before sale.

If I'm being really critical I would think the front brake discs should be replaced but I have used the car for the past 3 months without a problem.

In December I also put two new tyres on the car, I replaced the radiator and the steering rack. The cooler for the power steering fluid is integrated into the radiator. This burst and the mixture of fluids destroyed the rack seals. I also replaced a corroded brake pipe.

I do not have the code for the radio and have not tried to recode it - I prefer the sound of the engine!!!
