JAGUAR XJR 1995 X300 rare Manual

Welcome to the sale of my very rare Jaguar 1995 XJR with manual gearbox.

This is an X300 model, the last of the inline sixes, from 1995 in British Racing Green with a cream leather interior. It is one of only around 120 right hand drive XJRs produced by Jaguar with a manual gearbox, only about 40 of which are known to still exist. So this is a very rare car, already acknowledged as a classic and the one to have!

Being an XJR it has a 4.0 litre supercharged engine and all the usual extras like aircon, electric memory seats and steering, heated front and rear screens, multi-change CD radio, Traction Control, Limited Slip Diff and cruise control. It even still has the original Etacs analogue mobile phone which works but cannot of course connect to modern networks. A cleverer person than me might be able to convert it to GSM…

When I bought this car a few years back I intended to keep it for the long term. I had a full 60,000mile service and thorough check carried out by marque expert David Marks following which I replaced:

• Front brake callipers

• Discs and pads all round

• Clutch master cylinder

• Braided brake lines

• Purpose made stainless steel performance exhaust

Since then it has had oil and plugs every year but very little else as it has been completely reliable. It is a fabulous car equally at home on shopping trips around town, motorway cruising and cross country blasts. It returns an average of 25mpg, 28 on a run and has now done 69,000 miles. It has just passed the MoT test with no work needed and is tested to 27th July 2015. The tax runs out and the end of July and I will renew it as needed.

The car is in very good overall condition, everything works as it should but it is used regularly and it is not quite concours, although with a little effort it could be. I have shown it at Jaguar Club shows and always gets plenty of positive feedback. However it is 20 years old and it is not perfect, there are a few blemishes in the paintwork, the LCD clock is a bit temperamental and the aircon would benefit from a re-gas. The MoT tester told me that the front tyres are scrubbing on the inside edge so the tracking probably needs checking and adjusting. I can’t think of anything else that needs doing, and if I get time I will try and sort these bits out before she is sold.

The car will come with the L 600 XJR registration shown in the pictures. She also comes with a thick history file, the workshop manuals on CD the original Jaguar sales brochure and the (unused!) under bonnet tool kit.

Given that I obviously love this car you might be wondering why I am selling it? Well simply because my wife can no longer get in and out easily and I have trouble getting her wheelchair into the boot!

Get the aircon regassed - no leaks and working fine

Had a tyre & tracking check - fronts have minimum 5mm and tracking is in spec

Re-taxed the car for 12 months (disabled)
