LOTUS ELISE SPORT 160 (WVTA) 2000

Lotus Elise (WVTA) Sport 160 Registration: X807WAA

Chassis No.: SCCKA1110YHC31627
63,000 Miles.
I have owned this Sport 160 since 2010 and it has had three former keepers. I bought it from Will Blackham who is a well known and respected marque specialist.
As you will see she has a full service history, the last service being at 62,014 miles when it had the cam belt changed.
I have recently just had the front end re-sprayed due to the usual Elise stone chips; so she is in Very Good Condition for the year and drives very well. She isn’t a garage Queen, but a car which I have used regularly and loved driving. Any inspection welcome.
Comes with the original owners manuals, service books, and Elise Sport 160 supplement to Elise Owners handbook C111T0324J.

So what is a Sport 160? A lot of you will know, but some of you won’t, and others will be confused by SVA and WVTA specifications.
One thing is clear, these are becoming increasingly rare. Figures from How Many Left? show that in Q3 of 2015 there were just 74 licensed and 43 SORN
The Sport 160 model was a higher performance derivative of the Elise, and was aimed at customers requiring an increased level of dynamic specification for use on road or track.
The first 50 Sport 160 cars underwent Single Vehicle type Approval (SVA) testing, and were factory built with catalytic converters and 'Sport' exhaust mufflers to produce 160 PS.
Subsequent cars were, Whole Vehicle Type Approved (WVTA) and were factory built with catalytic converters, the 111S exhaust system and dual intake air cleaner assemblies to produce approx. 150PS. These cars are readily converted to 160PS specification. Prior to July '00, all cars were fitted with sport suspension (LSS) and upgraded seats, both of which became factory fit options after this time.
The difference between the Sport 160 and the standard Elise which the engine is based on are, modified inlet and exhaust ports, optimised compression ratio, new inlet and exhaust camshafts, VVC type cast alloy inlet manifold assembly, Modified airbox, 45mm diameter fabricated 4-2-1 exhaust manifold apparently as per the 340R and oil cooler.
Visually, the Sport 160 has Lotus 'Victory' wheels (6J front, 8J rear) with 185/55R15 and 225/45R16 tyres. The Sport 160 has a 111S rear aerofoil with added wedge shaped plinths to raise the height.
My car is a WVTA car which has been fitted with SPAX RSX suspension which are described by Hangar 111 in the following manner, "If you want the ultimate suspension kit to transform the handling characteristics of your car and to adjust the ride height too, then SPAX RSX is the answer. RSX kits contain all of the key features and benefits of our PSX kits, plus allow you to adjust the ride height of the car using 100% Stainless Steel Height Adjusters. RSX also allows you to set the corner weights of your car, which means you can control the weight distribution, improving the balance and grip of the car. Because RSX is a “Coil-Over” design, it comes with narrower, uprated race type springs, which means you can fit larger diameter wheels. Controlling the damper stiffness allows you to alter the suspension set up to perfectly suit your style of driving. The result is more driver confidence and this means more enjoyment! Some suspension kits may give your car cool looks and adjustable ride height. SPAX RSX Suspension Kits deliver SO MUCH MORE".
The suspension was set up for me by Andy WALSH of CAR LIMITS and it really does handle very nicely.
If you are looking for a Sport 160 come and have a look, this is a very honest, straight car.
