The Lotus Evora GTE was unveiled at the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance in August 2011 and was to become the most powerful road going Lotus ever built.

The car featured much more aggressive styling, with a track widened by 100mm over the standard Evora and extensive use of carbon fibre to further reduce the weight of the car. It was intended that the GTE would be released with a 440bhp Evora 3.5 V6 supercharged unit.

Unfortunately, this never came to be and the Evora GTE project was parked. 30 pre-production cars were built, some of which were registered. The cars were mothballed and remained under car covers in the Lotus compound awaiting their fate.

In September 2014, Lotus announced at their Global Meeting to dealers assembled from the far corners of the world, that 20 of the original cars would be released for sale, subject to complete remanufacture by Lotus Motorsport. The other 10 cars were simply mules and would be dismantled for parts.

The cars would feature a brand new current specification Evora S supercharged V6 engine developing 345 bhp. During remanufacture the cars would not only receive a new engine but also new wishbones, brakes, all latest upgrades, wheels and in certain cases new interiors.

The car is instantly recognisable from a standard Evora by virtue of its stance and aggressive styling. Evora GTE features a completely redesigned front end with deeper grilles and carbon fibre accents together with daytime running lights, a significantly wider front clamshell and a carbon fibre single louvre.

The styling continues with flared side sills, cowled air intakes and is concluded with a widened rear clamshell featuring a completely new rear end with integrated rear carbon spoiler and diffuser.

To ensure the cars sounds as good as it looks, the GTE is fitted with the twin tip Lotus Sports exhaust.

We purchased this particular GTE at the Global Dealer conference in September 2014 and have been eagerly awaiting its completion and collection. “GTE Number 8” is one of only twenty cars built and one of only six right hand drive cars in the world, two of which have already found very happy new owners.

Of the remaining right hand drive cars, this is the only one to be registered in 2015 with only 2000 miles. The remaining cars were registered in 2011 and 2012.
