Rarer than rocking horse poo, this is actually the holy grail. The combination of Estate, V6 and Manual transmission is nigh on impossible to find (in 2 years of searching, I've only seen 3, of which this is 1). This is my 4th 406 (previously had a 2.0 HDI, 2.0 16v and V6 A/T saloon). I was lucky enough to find a 38k mile 406V6 saloon previously - it is amazing how similarly this car drives, with barely any extra wear on the interior and only really the exterior showing a few more marks than the super low mileage example. I bought this car from another 406 afficionado, who in turn bought it from an ex Peugeot mechanic, so it's been well looked after.
Chassis: the 406 has legendary ride and handling and this is no different. It still feels tight to drive and benefits from the correct sized tyres (205 vs 195 on lesser models) on the wider Executive rims. Premium tyres all round - Pirelli rears with 5-6mm of tread and new Dunlop SP Blue Response at the front (probably done about 1k miles now). I've also recently replaced inner and outer tie rods. Brakes are strong and the car benefits from new front discs and pads at the end of last year.
Drivetrain: A really lovely engine, it pulls smoothly from idle and picks up its skirts very nicely from 4000RPM with a lovely howl. The car looks like any other 406 from the outside (someone having removed the V6 badges in the past) so is a real Q-car. The economy is pretty decent. On a motorway run, 35+mpg is easily attainable without trying too hard. With local driving (B-roads and across Milton Keynes) and some more welly, high 27-29 is more the norm, but it depends how much you want to enjoy the noise! Beating the official figures is easy, however (which goes to show the NEDC test wasn't always bollocks). The car qualifies for the old, cheap tax.
Gearbox is smooth without crunching and the clutch bites well and doesn't slip.
Exterior: Good condition overall, though obviously with some marks for the age here and there - some chipping to the front bumper and a zig zag scratch on the top of the roof being the most noticeable
Interior: Very good condition. The seats are in excellent condition, which can be seen in the photos and everything works in the car (in fact everything works full stop bar the heater element for the drivers mirror)

The car should want for nothing in the foreseeable future. The inner tie rods were the only thing causing a knocking noise, which is now fixed. The car has a 2year 20k service interval, so isn't due for another service until October.
So why am I selling after looking for such a long time? Well I'd mostly given up hope of ever finding one, so having gone through a few other cars, I'd ordered a cheap 2 year lease on a Leon ST when typically this popped up shortly after, so of course I bought it anyway! I've run both cars concurrently until now, but I don't have the drive space for both and since I'm stuck with the Leon for another year and a bit, so having found my sensible hat in the shoe cupboard and dusted it off, it makes sense for the Peugeot to depart. However, I would ask the new owner to let me know if/when they decide to sell in the future.
Viewing is welcomed and test drive is possible with proof of insurance. I'm in South Northants (just North of Milton Keynes, or about 10-15 mins from M1 J15)
No agencies, western union offers, African princes, or rig workers (I feel sorry for genuine rig workers when they're trying to line up buying a new car for when they get shore leave and all they get is ignored, or reported!)
