PORSCHE 944 S 2.5 16v Ventiler 1988
**REDUCED**
**Unfortunately circumstances have changed with the sale. I booked it in for an early MOT for peace of mind, but it has failed on nearside sill corrosion. The inspector has pushed a hole through on the lower edge of the outer sill. It also had advisories for the offside rear sill and play in lower steering uj.
I have no time to repair it myself at the moment and over last few days have developed a shoulder issue which is slowing me down altogether!
I have had a quote from a friend to do the repair work, but at the moment I can't drive the car to his garage with my shoulder issues.
So for now I will offer it as is at a lower price.
According to the gov website, the existing MOT expiry date (December) stills stands, but if stopped could be prosecuted if thr vehicle was deemed unroadworthy. Sounds contradictory to me, but that is what the site says!
I have pictures of the corrosion for anyone interested, the majority on the underneath is very tidy, but there is now a small hole on the underside of the outer sill. View into B pillar vent looks clean. **
Here for sale is my Porsche 944 S:
1988 Porsche 944 S 2.5 16v - 131k miles
MOT until December 2014
Tax until end of November 2014
Guards red exterior with light grey/black interior & light grey pinstripe comfort seats.
This is a lovely example of what is quite a rare model, the S model only being made between 1987 & 1988, and is in great condition both inside & out.
The car benefits from the standard specification including electrically adjustable drivers seats, electric windows/mirrors/sunroof, working dash clock (rare!), collapsible spare wheel with working compressor (also rare!).
Additions from the standard spec include a Toad Ai606 alarm/immobiliser, an Alpine CDE-177BT headunit, 17" Porsche Boxster alloy wheels with good Falken tyres, ProMax DME chip and Porsche 968 castor mounts.
Over the last 12 months (~ 3000 miles) I have manitained the car personally, refreshing a few parts as needed including
- oil service, air filter & spark plugs (Oct '13 - 128k)
- 968 castor mounts (Oct '13 - 128k)
- cam chain tensioner slipper pads (top & bottom) (Nov '13 - 128k)
- clutch master cylinder, slave cylinder and flexi pipe (Nov '13 - 128k)
- intake system overhaul (inlet cleaning, vac hose replacements, TB adjustment, etc) (Feb '14 - 129k)
- various water leaks (ingress into car) fixed
- rear brake calipers stripped and rebuilt (Jun '14 - 130k)
- engine mounts replaced (Jul '14 - 130k)
- transaxle fluid change (Aug '14 - 130k)
- oil service (Sep '14 - 131k)
There are other little bits & bobs as well, but those are the main items.
The belts and rollers were last replaced in March 2011 at 126k miles.
The car is in very good condition overall and has been in regular use during my ownership. She runs & drives very well, starts first time, everytime, has great road manners and the 16v engine pulls well, really coming on song as you pass 4000 rpm!
The interior is in very nice condition with an uncracked dash (quite rare!) and all electrics working fine. The light grey pinstripe seats are in lovely condiiton, with just minor marks on the drivers bolster as expected. Genuine Porsche overmats are fitted to help protect the carpets.
The exterior is also in nice condition, it does have the odd small dent, stonechip, etc and there is some minor corrosion as shown in the photos, but overall she still looks great - and always gets nice comments from passers by!
The 17" Boxster wheels are in very good condition and the Falken tyres have lots of tread remaining.
The car has very good service history, the service booklet is stamped from new up to 2004 and I have an A4 folder with lots of receipts for work done over the years, running back as far as 1998. The car comes with original Porsche leather folder, book pack and two keys, both with Toad keyfobs.
Minor points to note include:
- occasional slight stumble at idle
- sticky ignition switch
- minor PAS leak (rack is damp)
- headlining a little untidy
I will be very sad to see the car go, I had lusted after a 944 for many years, and this is a lovely example in the best colour (in my opinion). I have recently bought a 944 Turbo that needs some TLC, so unfortunately I am having to sell my S - if I could keep both, I would!
I have tried to keep this advert concise rather than ramble on, but if you would like any more info (I've no doubt forgotten something!!), more photos, etc then please get into contact. If I miss your call, please leave a message and I will get back to you as soon as possible, or contact me via email if you prefer.
