Description

Clio 182 Trophy No. 108
After 7 years of ownership I am reluctantly selling my much loved Trophy. It has received nothing but the best treatment in its life, and is a truly superb example of the car.
She has travelled just 58,500 miles, and this will remain roughly the same till sold. A full and comprehensive service history is included, I have a record and receipt of every item purchased and work carried out on the car since my ownership. Exceeding £12k after the purchase price. I am able to email a copy of the spreadsheet that the work is listed on request. I can also give you access to a Google Drive account containing every picture I've taken of the car with work I have done to it on request.
There have been no engine or management modifications, just the addition of an ITG panel filter. The Auxiliary and Timing belts were replaced in 2009 at 28k miles, and again in 2015 at 57k miles, with the addition of replacing the water pump and dephaser pulley, all genuine Renault parts. The gearbox oil was changed at the same time. Engine oil has been Fuchs Titan Supersynth 5W-40 changed every year, and it’s just been done ready for the sale.
I fitted a stainless steel cat back exhaust from BTB Exhausts of Daventry, one of just a handful the company produced, and is a truly superb piece of workmanship. A group buy meant the one off production cost of £1500 for the piece was reduced substantially. Mark Fish of Harlow then modified the original Cat, to remove the restriction and is now a 2.5” diameter exhaust all the way through. Earlier this year I removed the exhaust and waxed the underneath of the boot floor and rear suspension parts, I sent the exhaust hanger brackets off to be blasted and powder coated and gave the rear callipers a fresh lick of red. It has like-new exhaust hangers, and the downpipe to cat fittings have just been replaced. Oh, I also polished the backboxes for good measure!
The famous Sachs suspension on the front of the car was refurbished by BG Motorsport in 2013 at 53k miles and fitted with new adjusters so they can actually be adjusted if required. These are matched with a set of Mark Fish springs which lower the front a smidge and stiffen things up slightly. At 42k miles, I fitted a set of Koni adjustable dampers on the rear, and a set of springs from Mark Fish. These lower the rear to match the ride height of the front and make for a sharper drive. I have the original springs to go with the sale of the car, plus the original rear dampers and a set of cup dampers for temporary measure when the Sachs have work done. The front wishbones and anti-roll bar have been fitted with polyurethane bushes. The suspension has just been inspected and adjusted by Mark Fish and given the all clear after replacing a suspect lower ball joint. In order to relieve the need for fitting camber bolts, Mark Fish made a groove in the drivers side damper bolt hole to allow enough adjustment to correct the camber. This allows the much stronger standard bolts to be used. It was also discovered that the KTEC solid top mounts that were fitted were not allowing the dampers to move like they needed, so they were replaced with standard items which make the car much better to drive.
Number 108 is possibly even more rare than the others, as it may be the only one that did not come with a factory fitted alarm, or any of the cut outs in the trim for sensors. Because of this I had a Clifford Avant Guard category 1 alarm fitted, and a Tracker which can be transferred to the new owner.
The car is cleaned of tar, clayed, polished and waxed in the spring, and sealed for the winter, every year. Last winter I bought a Stormforce cover for it so it was wrapped up during the nasty weather, which I will include with the sale. I have cleaned and waxoyl’d the rear arches and beam for extra winter protection. The Clio badge on the boot lid has been removed, the two holes that were left have been welded, filled and the boot lid re-sprayed with a 197 badge fitted, done by Kream Developments of Rainham in 2013. The Speedline Turini’s have been refurbished at Lepsons of Gillingham and look stunning, with Michelin Pilot Sport 3 fitted that will need replacing next year. The standard Renault steering wheel has been re-trimmed by Royal Steering Wheels in black leather.
The car has performed faultlessly and has not let me down in any way, with no bugs or niggles. It drives superbly, and the engine runs smooth and pulls with a lot of force. The interior is outstanding, non-smoking owners. The MOT runs till August 2017.
Feel free to contact me with questions, I am based in Hornchurch, Essex.
Many Thanks.
David.
