RENAULTSPORT CLIO 172 CUP 2003

For sale is our beloved Renaultsport Clio 172 Cup, unfortunately growing up and getting a mortgage means we can no longer run three cars and the two practical cars are the ones that have to stay.

The cup version is lightened and comes with no ABS and a different suspension set up to the standard 172. The car is completely standard except for upgraded front brake pads (EBC Green).

The mileage is just under 104000 and may rise slightly. The car is MOT'd until 25.02.2015 and passed the last one with no advisories and is taxed until June 2014.

The car was last serviced in December and comes with multiple receipts for work carried out in the 3 years of owning the car. The majority of work has been carried out by well respected Renault Specialist garages. Work includes both drive shafts and both wishbones. The cambelt and dephaser pulley were replaced about 3 years and 50k ago, so have another 2 years or 20k miles before needing to be done again.

The car comes with 4 Continental Premium contact tyres with good tread. It comes as standard with a can of tyre foam but no spare wheel.

There are a few age related marks (stonechips etc) and there is a scuff on the front bumper and a tiny dent on the bonnet (only noticeable if the light catches it). There are also a few tiny car park dings (because its seems impossibly difficult for other people to open their doors carefully in a car park!). There is also a cigarette burn in the driver seat. The seat bolsters are in better condition than the majority of cups with only very light wear. There is the usual steering wheel wear, common to this model but nothing drastic.

Unfortunately the wheels have seen better days, they are straight however the paint has mostly peeled off and they need a refurb to restore them to their former glory. They are however the original Speedline Turini's only fitted to this model of Clio.

The is also a rattle from the exhaust, it vibrates at between 1000-2000rpm. The cat-manifold gasket was replaced and now the pipe rubs against the subframe under load, this should be a simple fix, but I was trying to do it on axle stands with the cat 2 inches in front of my face.

There is a small chip in the windscreen (small enough to be repaired), which occurred about 2 days after a new screen was fitted.

Other than the above points the car runs well and is great fun to drive. They are one of the quickest small cars out there and can still achieve around 35mpg. The car has only ever been run on Super Unleaded since we purchased it.
