1996 Saab

Selling my heavily modified Saab 9000 as I'm now after a 9-3 2.8 V6.

NB - The V5 lists this as a 9000 CSE 2.0 i.e. it did not come off the production line as an Aero but rather the high spec 9000. However, it has a full Aero bodykit, Aero 16" 3-spoke alloy wheels, Aero wingback seats, Aero badges, the B234 engine (2.3 litre), and the same dash with digital clock and boost gauge in the instrument cluster. It has also been extensively modified and is a real sleeper or wolf in sheep's clothing.

I am the third owner and I purchased the car from a member on UKSaabs where I have also been a member since 2010.

Current mileage is 106k.

VED until 31/05/2014

MOT until 02/10/2014. NB - the only advisory last MOT was a minor exhaust leak from the centre box. The whole exhaust was replaced a few weeks ago with a stainless 3" Abbott Racing system so that won't be an issue at the next MOT.

Despite having only owned the car for about 2 months I have already had the bodywork fixed (dent to the o/s rear wheel arch, roof respray and A-pillar corrosion), a brand new windscreen has been fitted and it has also had brand new NGK BCR8ES plugs and fully synthetic oil/filter.

It has performed faultlessly during my ownership and everything works as it should.

The only issue I am aware of is the n/s rear door does not lock/unlock by remote so the button has to be operated manually (possibly just needs a new solenoid).

Edit: after a bit of tinkering the door now locks and unlocks as it should.

NB The ABS warning light came on the other day. This is likely to be down to one of the wheel sensors although I have booked it in at my local garage for a Tech II fault code diagnosis.

With 470 hp and 430 lb/ft (583 Nm) it has more than enough performance for most. The current power to weight is approximately 330/tonne. To put this figure in perspective, a Porsche 911 GT3 RS (997) has a power to weight ratio of 302/tonne. Having said that it is happy to potter around town as the uprated clutch isn't overly heavy.

In the paperwork is a receipt from Quaife for servicing the lsd (Nov 2010)

A spare red DI is also included (it has been stripped and polished)

NB - I am not in a hurry to sell the car and if I don't get what I want for it I will keep it (I only cover 3-4 k miles/year) so please no silly offers e.g. £2k etc.

Please ensure you can afford to insure this car. If you are under 25 or have limited driving experience/ncb you will find it difficult to insure and/or receive a ridiculously high quote. Any test drives will be carried out by me unless you can show me proof that your policy covers my car comprehensively (not third party) and for an agreed value as the car is currently insured for £4k.

No test pilots (I know how fast it is thanks), groups of lads after a quick thrill ride, dreamers or time wasters please.

I have now been asked a couple of times why I am selling the car despite having only owned it for a few months which I can see does look a little bit suspicious. Bit of background first:

My previous car was a 9000 Aero that I purchased in 2009 and gradually tuned to just over 400 hp. Unfortunately I had various engine problems (two replacement engines) yet the car never ran right. I became disillusioned, decided to cut my losses, sold the car to a Saab specialist then started looking for a 9-3 2.8 v6 which I had heard good things about through the Saab forums I belong to. However, almost immediately this silver 9K came up for sale and as my initial goal back in 2009 was a 500hp (or close to ) 9K, I decided to buy this as then I could tick it off my bucket list. This I have done and I now want to move onto a more sensible (but still quick) Saab which for me is the 9-3 v6.
