1988 Toyota

**Update** - Today (10th September), I had a replacement exhaust fitted and a service done.

The time has come to sell my MR2.

This is the third mark 1 MR2 I have owned and without doubt the best one yet.

Its a 1998 car with 86k miles (very low for year).

As you will see from the photos, its had a new paint scheme. This was done just over a year ago, after a restoration by Gary Mellor, who is well known on the MR2 clubs (user name Mk1dal) as being a 'serial restorer' of these cars. His hobby seems to be to rescue as many of these great little cars as possible.

As you will see from this thread, the car has had a lot of work done, including new sills, floor repairs, arches done etc etc. This was then followed by the respray, giving the car a 'retro' look. Whilst this isn't to everyones taste, I personally loved it as soon as I saw it and this is what sealed the deal for me to buy the car originally.

Since I have owned the car, I have added a Cat2 immobiliser (with insurance certificate), 'raybrig style' clear headlights - which make a HUGE difference to night driving, and a new Sony stereo. The stereo is a mech-less unit with bluetooth which allows for music streaming from a phone as well as hands free phone calls. It also has USB in, memory card slot and audio jack.

The cambelt was changed at 62951 miles and the car has 5 months tax and a 11 months MOT (passed MOT on Saturday 10th August with no advisories).

Alloys are aftermarket, and branded as 'BSA'. Not in bad condition but they do have a bit of kerb rash.

Everything on the car works exactly as it should with no issues. Engine runs really smooth and the gearbox has none of the 5th gear pop out issues that some MR2s suffer from.

This MR2 is the sunroof model, which tilts and lifts out with storage under the front bonnet.

The interior is black and in very good condition. I have recently changed the leather gearstick gaitor as the old one was looking tatty.

So, in summary, a very well sorted MR2 with very low mileage for year and 11 months MOT. Just serviced, with a replacement exhaust fitted.

I'll be sorry to see it go, but as there are so many 'interesting' cars i still need to try, I rarely keep any car for more than a year. My loss, your gain!
