1998 TVR

This beautiful TVR Chimaera 4.5 Litre is only available because the owner to whom Str8six sold it in December 2013 decided to buy a Tuscan from us in December 2014 !

This Classic TVR is finished in Brooklands Racing Green with Biscuit half hide Interior. The Roof is trimmed in Dark Green Mohair. The carpets are dark green bound in magnolia, but with practical dark green binding to the floor carpets. The dashboard is walnut veneer and features White instrument faces. There is a full complement of Leven Technology aluminium cockpit componentry.

The car has Power Assisted Steering, but is not fitted with Air Conditioning (very few Chimaeras were). ICE is provided by a Pioneer KEH-P4800R Multi CD Control System (believed to be Original Equipment - so, good for provenance!).

This Chimaera has a "mileage defined" service history by TVR main dealerships and respected independents. It was first registered on 27 March 1998. It has since covered only 62,290 miles in 16 years (an average of under 3,900 miles per year).

The most significant factors regarding the car’s engineering and technical status relate to work carried out by Str8six over the last 3 years .

We carried out a full 12k Service in Jan 2012 and renewed much of the cars suspension at that time. In March 2013 we carried out a FULL BODY OFF CHASSIS OUTRIGGER REPLACEMENT operation, and fitted a NEW CAMSHAFT AND LIFTERS in the engine; we also replaced ALL THE DIFFERENTIAL BUSHES and the underbonnet FUEL PIPEWORK. And in March this year we installed a NEW CLUTCH. So, £8,000 worth of bills you won’t need to face.

This Chimaera is in first class condition inside, outside and underneath. And many say that the 4.5 litre engine – developing 285 bhp at 5,500 rpm and 300 ft lbs of torque at 4,500 rpm - is the one to own. The 4.0 litre is “calmer” and the 5.0 litre - with 35 bhp but only 20 ft lbs more torque - can be a bit more temperamental. The 4.5 litre is claimed to be good for 0-60 mph in 4.7 secs with a top speed of 160 mph (or so the TVR brochure claims!).

This particular Chimaera 4.5 Litre is a very desirable example of TVR’s classic British high performance sports tourer – and will be supplied with Str8six's renowned “All the 12s “ delivery specification – i.e. 12,000 mile service revisited, 12 mths RFL, and 12 mths/12,000 miles warranty, plus a 12 V battery trickle charger.
