TVR GRIFFITH 1995 'N' 500HC
I have owned this fantastic car for seven years, as the fourth owner. The car started life as Fernhurst Motor Co.'s demonstrator, was bought and re-sold to them through its other two owners and it is where I bought the car in 2006.
The car is a 1995 registration, originally on a 'N' plate. Currently at 80k miles the car has been regularly used in its life but led a quiet couple of years recently and has been extremely well looked after, wanting for nothing as the large folder of receipts and invoices, plus the original TVR owners handbook attest. It is currently under SORN, and has an MOT to July. The car was last serviced at Top Gear Automotive in July 2013, along with the replacement of a lower front wishbone. The car is always garaged and has been for the 7 years I've owned it, on a battery monitor.
The car is in fantastic fully original condition, mechanically sound, and good cosmetically. See below for details of the mechanical attention the car has received to make it as robust and reliable as possible. The Mulberry and Magnolia interior and seats are in good condition, with no rips or tears to the leather and vinyl trim, and the roof is in excellent order and doesn't leak. The Mica Red paintwork is also original. There are the usual stonechips and a couple of areas of crazing in the gel coat; they were there when I bought the car and haven't progressed any in the last 7 years. The wheels are again original and in good condition for their age with no major scrapes or dings to the alloy.
A 5.0 litre HC engined car, the motor was fully rebuilt by TVR Power in 2005 following valve failure and the engine has been faultless since. The diff was rebuilt in 2006 and refitted with poly bushes, and a refurbished T5 gearbox fitted in 2011 along with a new uprated clutch. The CV joints and wheel bearings have all been replaced in recent years along with new discs and pads as needed, so the drivetrain is tip-top. It currently wears Toyo Proxes with minimal wear on all four corners.
In 2007 I had the chassis (body on) stripped down to the metal, cleaned up, zinc coated and then repainted. There is a CD in the history folder with pictures of the work. The chassis is still in a great state with no holes or areas for concern and has had its spring inspection and touch-up (the picture is from the strip down).
The car has a few unobtrusive enhancements, the roll bar was a TVR extra fitted from new, there is a unique tonneau cover for the roof which Fernhurst had commissioned, and there are also various Leven machined alloy switch replacements in the cabin. In the engine bay I have added an ACT uprated induction hose, K&N air filter, AFM heatshield and a plenum spacer, there is also a fan override switch fitted in the cabin should you wish to bring the cooling fans in early. The audio is covered by a Sony CD unit with iPod connection.
The car is running a HID conversion to the main headlamps in the form of an in-line kit, the car clears MOT's with this but it is as simple as unplugging the ballast packs and refitting H4 bulbs if needed to return to the original setup. Most fuses were replaced recently, with glow fuses used in the footwell fuse box for easy identification should one go. All electrics are working as they should be.
I also have a decent amount of spares to go with the car, from two spare wheels ( spacesavers), to a radiator and various small parts down to fuses, along with a copy of Steve Heath's 'bible'.
I have been a Car Club member before acquiring the car, ran the Staffs & Shrops region and was a serving committee member for a number of years so the car is well known in the TVR community.
Circumstances dictate that the car must go soon, so all sensible offers entertained. No PX.
