1995 Volkswagen

I’m selling my 1995 VW Corrado R32.

This Corrado has a had an engine conversion to a 3.2 v6 from a mk5 Golf R32 in 2010. The engine when it went in had only done 8000 miles so practically brand new. The Corrado was an original VR6 up until the conversion.

The conversion was done in 2010, all wiring completed by Southwest In-Car Tech. The front suspension and steering components were also rebuilt at the same time. New power steering pump and radiator fans.

The Classic Green colour, normally only seen on the Storm versions, this was a special order for the first owner.

Brakes are a total conversion Audi TT 288mm front discs and calipers, Yellow Stuff brake pads and mk4 Golf GTI rear calipers. Caliper conversion was done before I purchased the car in 2009 but discs and pads have been replaced in 2013. The previous owner was All Tech Garage in Tunbridge Wells; they have been working on the car since.

The windscreen has been replaced in 2013 – this was done by SPR coachworks in Hailsham. I didn’t want auto windscreens or some other windscreen company to bodge it without checking and correcting rust first. As it turns out it was perfect.

The front bonnet, wings, rear bumper and tail gate re-sprayed to tidy it up – again by SPR Coachworks. Very clean car and body for its age.

Mechanically this car doesn’t go without – when it needs it – it’s done.

And best of all – it sounds awesome.

I am selling because I have a new project and really can’t justify owning 4 cars.

I’ve done 4 Euro trips with the R32 engine and various trips around the UK. The car is a mechanically sound and fast VW. It’s not a “show” car but very clean and built for performance.

The car in currently insured with HIC at approx. £500 (I’m 38), which is very reasonable. With a £5000 agreed value.

So here’s in the list…

• R32 Engine from a mk5 Golf – engine £1500, wiring £500, labour and other stuff I can’t remember…£!!!!...Deleted from memory

• Rebuilt front suspension and steering in 2010 – new tie rods, ball joints, bushes, etc, etc, sub frame cleaned and power coated. All parts from VW.

• Remapped and de-immobised – running standard VW R32 ECU. The car feels like the engine came with the car. Never had it dyno’d but it’s definitely faster than my mk4 Golf R32, so approx. 280bhp+

• Lightened and balanced flywheel bought new in 2010 with performance clutch

• 2.9 Corrado VR6 Gearbox

• Front mounted Mocoil oil cooler

• All gauges are original VR6 and all work as expected, additional SPA gauge for oil temp and pressure - £130

• Image 16” Alloys 8” front and 9.5” rear. All Avon ZZ3’S with excellent tread

• Audi TT 288mm calipers up front with Goodrich hoses

• Golf mk4 GTI calipers out back

• CAN bus and engine management can be done via the original ODB port.

• All bodywork plus windscreen done was approx. £1400

• Power steering pump replaced in 2010

• Pads and discs all round replaced in 2013 - £180 just on front Yellow stuff pads!

• KW Variant 1 coil-overs in 2013 - £1100

• Magnex exhaust

• De-catted (but will include the CAT)

• Smoothed rear end seams, boot lid and aerial

• Rear brake bias valve and associated work in 2014 – receipts for £400+

• Oil and filters and changed every 6 months

• Full leather original interior – leather is very good for it’s age and showing minor signs of wear

• Pipercross air filter

• Momo leather steering wheel – this has a real nice feel

• Rear spoiler still pops up at 50mph – this was replaced in 2012

• CAT 1 immobiliser and alarm with certificate, two keys and remotes, de-locked all around, boot popped via solenoid via remote

Couple minor issues that need some work…

• Heating controls stuck on windscreen mode, needs removing and greasing up

• Sunroof – needs new sliders, which I have, they just need fitting. Sunroof motor works but disconnected to avoid accidental damage due to sliders.

• HPI check will reveal some up and down mileage due to replacement of failed speedometers. I do have spare working one, which will also be included.

• Some rear interior panels need new clips

• Scratch on passenger window
