1991 Volkswagen

For sale my cherished 91 Rivage Golf GTI 111000 miles. I’ve owned this car for about 10 years after buying it off some family friends. I put the car into storage for a few years, hence the reasonable milage, but have used it as my daily driver for the last 12 months. The vehicle had a full service/fluid and cam belt change (at 104000) before even being started after being in storage.

The Rivage is a special edition, there were about 500 made (less than 200 still on the road), of which approximately half were blue (everyone seems to have blue one) and the rest were dark green. Leather was an optional extra, with the best leather colour being cream. VW special editions are very sought after and will maintain, if not increase in price. The car has full electrics including electric roof, windows, and heated front seats. Full original cream leather seats and door cards throughout, cream carpets, original mats, le castellet wheels. Fitted with a Thatcham approved alarm and immobiliser to keep your insurance cost down.

There is a stamped service history book up to 85,253 miles, and I have regularly serviced the vehicle myself (though I haven’t stamped the book) as I believe I take more care over it. The car has 12 months MOT and 6 months tax.

As well as the recent cam belt change the car also has a brand new fuel tank, fuel pump, and 3 new tyres.

The car is solid, reliable and in very good condition, but is also from 1991, so it is not in showroom condition. There is a very neat repair to the original hood, one of the alloy wheels could do with refurbishing, and the hinge on the glovebox needs replacing. If you’re looking for a car to show-off at VW shows then with a little work she could be perfect, or for a head turning classic for everyday use you can’t go wrong. I’m going to miss her…
