Always one to indulge in a bit of shameless history-plundering, Ford will finally unveil the production version of its Bullitt-inspired Mustang at the LA Autoshow on November 13
The car’s specs have already been leaked on the internet, but now Ford is in on the big teaser act too, releasing this shadowy image to get the juices flowing.
This car features the highly appropriate Highland Green paint of McQueen’s famous fastback, although you can have it in black too. The car will sit on 18-inch charcoal satin wheels, which hide upgraded brakes and a Ford sport tuned suspension kit including new shocks, springs and a stabiliser bar.
As you can see, the grille loses the famous pony badge, and we are reliably informed that the fuel filler cap will have a Bullitt logo and there won’t be a rear spoiler, in keeping with the original car.
Under the bonnet, the car should get a whole host of upgrades, including a revised air intake, racing oil filer, ECU upgrade and stainless exhaust, with power hitting the road through an LSD. Apparently the spare has been ditched for a tyre inflation kit to save weight too.
Inside, expect a whole host of slightly dubious Bullitt logos and aluminium trim.
The car goes on sale early in 2008 in the USA.
