Unable to make it to the Silverstone Classic this weekend? Fear not, there's plenty to keep you entertained from the past week on PH here. We also know of a man involved with the Classic, and he'll probably be keen to tell you about racing there very soon...
With August imminent it means Wilton House is not far away, as well as Pebble Beach. PH is behind the East Coast Classic as well so there's loads still going on as a great summer for cars and motorsport continues. Don't forget our own PistonFest either - here's hoping the weather holds for that! In the meantime all the best from the past seven days on PH is collated for your weekend reading pleasure below. Enjoy!
Big and charming. Bentley nice also
Cars built in Britain have dominated the newsfeed this week, always pleasing for the patriotic side of PistonHeads. Bentley has revised the
Continental GT Speed
to make its fastest production car just a touch faster still. With a launch on Scotland's west coast, the stunning scenery made for ideal
POTW
fodder. Furthermore, the news of Bentley's
smaller sports car
will surely be welcomed by those unexcited by a range of two-ton plus coupes.
Not to be outdone, Jaguar and Aston Martin have been busy too. The former chose Monday to reveal its F-Type S20C as part of its Team Sky Tour de France sponsorship, prompting a peruse of the classifieds for the earliest Roadsters. How does £63,000 for a V8 S sound? And if all the modern Jaguars don't really do it for you, be sure to attend this year's Revival where a D-Type race will celebrate 60 years since its introduction.
Finally there's Aston Martin, and the return of the Lagonda badge on a larger saloon. Don't expect to see one round your way soon though...
RS launch at Kyalami? Go on Porsche...
Amongst the Honda NSX, Nissan Skyline GT-R as well as various Evos and Imprezas, the
Mazda RX-7
can be overlooked as one of the Japan's great cars of the 1990s. Our PH Hero story corrected that, and it was celebrated in a
Time For Tea?
With British and Japanese cars at the forefront, it's been a relatively quiet week for the German manufacturers. Though we've still had an Audi RS diesel concept, a facelifted Cayenne and some 'ring spy shots of a GT3 RS so they've hardly been slacking. Oh, and Porsche has purchased the Kyalami circuit in South Africa too. Yep, not a busy week at all then...
PistonHeads has welcomed a new staff member this week, with
James Drake
joining us having spent many years with Caterham. That and owning a Panda 100HP sealed the deal. You'll be seeing plenty of him both on and offline (when he's not making us tea that is).
Having bade farewell to his Ferrari FF, Harris didn't spend too long in adding another noisy and fast Italian to his fleet; read his introduction to life with a Ducati Monster.
Eagerly anticipating our RX-7 hero, Dan declared his love for all things fast and Japanese (with many of you joining him!) on Wednesday. As official keeper of the PH Fleet SEAT Leon Cupra, it was down to Matt to drive the Leon Cup Racer at Silverstone. Nobody say 'cold slicks'...
Finished? Don't be silly. We've also been to South Africa with BMW, found a very rare Infiniti and celebrated another quirky Brit in Carpool. More of the same next week!
