Well, that didn't take long. No sooner has Aston Martin officially unveiled its "Middle East only"
Lagonda
in Dubai than the company's new boss,
Andy Palmer
, admitted that serious consideration is being given to selling the XXL saloon elsewhere.
Come on, they're British plates; sell it here?
"It's clear from initial reaction to the car that interest from around the world is extremely high," Palmer said at the launch, "and I can confirm today that we are also evaluating the opportunity to offer this Lagonda in other markets."
Okay, so there was no official mention of the UK, but it we'd be surprised if Britain wasn't on the list; home team advantage and all that.
If it comes here it will certainly be the sort of car to get you noticed - at 5.4 metres in length it's big enough to put even a long-wheelbase S-Class in the shade, although probably not the new Maybach. Power will come from Aston's long-serving 5.9 litre V12, and will presumably also share the same eight-speed automatic box as fitted to the Vanquish, Rapide S and DB9.
There's still no word on price, but we can guarantee it's not going to be cheap.
