Yes, yes, there's plenty of discussion on the Aston DB10 already. Our own
forum thread
has four pages with at least one talking about the car and the rest discussing Monica Bellucci. But it still seemed worth doing a proper story because, well, it's not everyday a new Bond car comes along.
That's perhaps the first point to make in fact. Despite the DB10 name implying a place in model line-up, it's exclusively for Spectre and won't make production. The official line is "it will be a model developed specifically for the film and built in-house by the brand's design and engineering teams." 10 will be made for Daniel Craig and the stunt drivers to presumably mangle beyond recognition trying to save the world (and Monica Bellucci).
There aren't any tech details on the car yet so it's time for a little Spectre speculation. DB10 would imply some relationship with the DB9 but it looks more like a V12 Vantage from here. Indeed, it shares quite a resemblance from the front with the CC100 Speedster seen last year that hinted at 'the future of the brand'. Without a standard V12 Vantage now being produced, the DB10 should therefore hopefully be built to V12 Vantage S specification. Sounds like a fairly good recipe for a Bond Aston if that is the case.
This year marks 50 years since an Aston first starred in a Bond film and we all know what that was. So there seemed no better time to celebrate those other famous Bond Astons. The DB5 is the icon what about the V8 Vantage used by Timothy Dalton in The Living Daylights? The closest matches to be found in the classifieds are this V8 Volante X-Pack and a stunning BRG coupe. Phwoar. The DBS introduced for Daniel Craig's Bond is now under £80K and early Die Another Day-spec Vanquishes can be found at just over £50,000. And finally if the new car has you after a V12 Vantage, the first manual cars are now five years old and also less than £80,000. More DB10 details as they're released!
