Having one E28 BMW 5 Series in the family now would be quite interesting. They have been out of production for more than 25 years, spawned the first M5 and for many (your correspondent included) they represent a fantastic era for BMW saloon design.
But three? That's a story. This video is the Petrolicious film of the Caccavo family, and a fascinating bunch they are. Between Dean, Donna Rae and Austin they own an M5, 528e and 535is. The latter is in fact Donna Rae's 5, bought by Austin as his first car. Clearly feeling left out, Donna purchased the 528 to make the trio. And all this with a car buying pact to never spend more than $10,000. Funnily enough that now seems like the nicest of the three, the 535 modified (he's a young lad after all) and the M5 nearing 300,000 miles.
It's a shame that the US cars had to have the nasty impact bumpers but fans of old BMWs will enjoy this. You may not agree with the tweaks made to each 5 Series (and the comments are already discussing the driving) but the Caccavo's enthusiasm for old BMs is infectious.
