Just a few days into January and the Christmas malaise seems a distant memory - good! Now we have new cars to discuss again, old cars to celebrate and upcoming motor shows to preview. In case you hadn't seen our
'reasons to be cheerful'
story over Christmas there's much to be excited about in 2015. We've already seen hints of that this week with a new Aston Martin, a V8 Lexus supersaloon and the Autosport Show. Catch up with everything here!
That's Christmas 2015 sorted then
There's one car that captured the hearts and minds of many this week. And no, it isn't the
Aston Vantage GT3
Ariel Nomad
, the car described as an 'Atom with knobbly tyres' by its maker and shown to the world at the Autosport show. Another mad creation from Simon Saunders and his team, it goes into production this month and costs £32,000. How could it not be huge fun? And how could we not make it Pic Of The Week?
Moreover, on the subject of orange British cars that go off-road, Land Rover announced the Celebration Series of Defenders this week. The Heritage, Adventure and Autobiography models are all limited editions and will surely prove fairly collectable as the Defender finally ceases production.
Back on the tarmac there's plenty to be excited by too. As well as that Aston, the Porsche 911 GT3 RS and Cayman GT4 appear to be in the final stages of testing. All three are very eagerly anticipated.
Set to arrive just in time for summer
The Detroit show opens to the media next week and there's one car in particular we're keen to know more on: the
Lexus GS F
. Because who wouldn't be interested in a 470hp V8 saloon? It will be fascinating to see what has been applied to the GS from the development of the RC F.
Before that though we've had the Autosport show to focus on, notable this year for the public debuts of the Zenos E10 S, Lister Knobbly and Noble M600 Speedster. Furthermore, the Coys auction at the show has once again provided many interesting (and tempting!) lots.
In amongst all the exciting cars that are soon to come, there's been one very significant car reviewed in the UK this week - the BMW M3. It's certainly a very different prospect in wintery Britain rather than sunny Portugal...
It's a long story this one...
Another week crammed with hot hatch content on PH! Our Carpooler this week has owned the original
fast Clio
fast Clio
has been compared to that small Ford (again) and there's a
Vauxhall Chevette HS
for sale in the classifieds. As well as that, one very good hot hatch (the SEAT Leon Cupra) has been made
into an estate.
Shed has excelled his usual high standards with this gorgeous VW Corrado. Finally, there aren't any £100K Garages to feature this week - we need 'em! There is a new PHer dream drive though; feel free to contibute one of those as well if you wish...
