KTM has just unveiled what it is calling the RC 390 Cup, a new machine designed to provide a stepping-stone to aspiring racers through a one-make race series. While this is all very good, what is even more interesting is the bike itself.
While the RC 390 has the same engine and suspension as the 390 Duke, the chassis is completely new. Would KTM make a brand new chassis just for some race bikes? Of course not - say hello to the new faired 390 road bike. Stick a set of lights (most likely the same as the 390 Duke units) and you have a fully faired, restricted licence legal bike with (assuming it is the same tune as the Duke) 44hp and a dry weight of around 140kg. Expect the road bike to be unveiled by the end of the year with a price tag in the £4,800 area.
