The Mercedes 190E 2.3-16 is a cool car. Not only was it the car used by Ayrton Senna in
, it was also a record breaker.
2013 marked 30 years since the introduction of the 2.3-16, a milestone commemorated by Mercedes through revisiting one of its lesser known achievements with the 190. At Nardo a few weeks before its launch, a 2.3-16 broke three world records driving flat out for 200 hours. It covered 50,000km (31,068 miles) at an average of 247.9km/h (154mph). Chris Harris was at the commemorative event, so expect more from him over the festive period.
Until then, here's the Senna and the Nardo 190s. One may be better known than the other, but both are more than worthy of a place on your desktop.
