Jack Brabham
's heroic status as a three-time Formula 1 champion and the only man to achieve that feat in a car of his own design are the headlines from an incredible career and enduring motorsport legacy. So it wasn't hard to pick a subject for our Pic Of The Week.
Choosing a pic was a little trickier and you may have seen earlier we put a picture of the Aston Martin DBR1 Brabham shared with Stirling Moss in the 1958 Le Mans 24-hour. Duff intel meant we credited the lovely four-wheel drift in the pic to Brabham but closer examination (and a tip-off from our colleagues at Classic & Sports Car) would indicate it was actually Moss at the wheel at the moment in question. It remains a great pic though and if you want to download it for your desktop the links are still there below.
Anyway, to clear up the confusion we thought we'd get a pic that DEFINITELY was Brabham and here you go. It depicts Black Jack leading Bruce McLaren at Brands Hatch in 1966, a race won by Brabham in his BT19-Repco on his way to his third championship and the one so notably achieved in his own car.
So, apologies for the mix-up and here's your two-for-one special Pic Of The Week.
