There's nothing like a back to back comparison on road and track to really be conclusive about how two cars compare. Attempting to remember how a car you drove three months ago stacks up to what you've just jumped out of isn't really the best way to reach a verdict.
So this week's twin test of Megane 275 Trophy and Leon Cupra 280 was the perfect way to establish our hot hatch favourite. Dan's verdict is one I would concur with as there can be no denying the Renault is the more exciting and involving driver's car. But the Leon was far from disgraced, revealing a lairy side to its character and proper track composure at a sodden Bedford.
As the keeper of the PH Cupra that's very pleasing and makes the prospect of further miles with it even more appealing. Indeed, our time on Bedfordshire B-roads earlier this week (where we shot this POTW) was my first proper back roads drive in the Cupra; on that performance there will be many more soon! We'll hope to pit the Cupra against a few more of its rivals during its PH tenure. It's 1-0 to the opposition at present so the Leon has a point to prove. It will be back!
