In the world of internetdom it is A Proven Fact no subject matter is more divisive or likely to kick off an online ruck than the Nissan GT-R. Multiplied by a factor of about five when someone inserts the running gear from one into the body of a Qashqai and makes big claims about horsepower and hypercar beating performance stats. Yes, it's a welcome return to Severn Valley Motorsport's
1,000hp-plus Qashqai R
and a chance to continue the debate about whether, legally speaking, it's a Qashqai converted into a GT-R or the other way around. Because in the heated discussion that followed
our last story
on the car that seemed to be the most pressing concern, not the fact it's apparently done a sub-10 quarter mile with all interior fixtures and fittings still in place. And has been offered for sale at £275,000.
To pour further fuel on the already incendiary debate here's another video from the guys at SVM showing the Qashqai recording some frankly ludicrous speeds at the recent Vmax200 event at Bruntingthorpe. There were some faster cars than the Qashqai but only a couple. And the list of cars that it equalled or beat includes LaFerrari, Lamborghini Aventador, Bugatti Veyron, Ferrari F12 and more.
So here, with the pin pulled, is another Qashqai shaped grenade lobbed into General Gassing and a chance to debate whether it's speed that matters. Or what the car is registered as with the DVLA.
