Those who have lost interest in the WRC recently are plentiful. Many have become disaffected with a lack of coverage, fewer big name drivers and a perceived lack of interesting cars. The latter part of that will change this weekend as the
Tuthill's Porsche 997 RGT
takes on the Rally Germany.
Now this does look rather good fun
The car has completed the pre-rally test where the
below video
was taken. Looks great sideways through hairpins, doesn't it? After 14 years away from the WRC Richard Tuthill said of the test, "Driving cars like this is an absolute joy. I've come to Germany to show people what's possible with the help of the FIA and this brilliant RGT initiative and already I'm amazed at the reception; I'm just worried this might become a full-time return!"
The Tuthill team is aiming for clean run through the German vineyards this weekend to get some much needed competition experience. With a brand new car and no precedent set they really have no idea what the weekend's stages will bring in terms of results.
Following yesterday's shakedown the rally itself will begin today. You can follow the progress of the Tuthill team at the official WRC website and on Twitter @OfficialWRC. All the best chaps!
Video here (and no, we don't understand the music either).
