So we're back down from a packed week at the LA show and a spectacular Dubai trip, stories from which continue to appear on the PH homepage with more to come too. We've been busy on home soil too. In other news - literally - PH has made two appearances in the national press this week too. You can read online about how the Telegraph thinks we're the
male equivalent of Mumsnet
(and possibly a UKIP campaign platform too - who knew?!) and if you're off to the paper shop make sure you pick up a copy of The Times for a full feature in the Saturday magazine.
This is quite a track battle!
So there was just a little bit more to the Dubai trip that we needed to share. Like a
Ferrari against McLaren
track test at the Dubai Autodrome. Quite a place to learn two new racing cars!
And that's not the end of our twin tests this week. With a PHer having completed a fabulous retro 911 project we had to compare it to the official Porsche equivalent, the 911 50 Years Edition. Not a conventional comparison but a great story nonetheless.
Both of those Porsches will cost you quite a lot more than our other 911 tested this week (it's a fortunate coincidence, honest!), the RPM 996 CSR. It's far from a poor relative though as Dan discovered at a very wet Silverstone. And for those with rather more to spend on a Porsche (i.e 918 levels), the Ultracar Sports Club may be of interest. Who wouldn't want to take part in a track day with all the greatest hypercars involved?
Nissan's little GT-R birthday treat to Japan
Appropriately enough given the 911 content we've had plenty on its 21st century nemesis, the Nissan GT-R. The
MY15 car
promises to be even more extraordinary than ever, and our
GT-R PH Buying Guide
offers invaluable advice if you're thinking of buying one. Furthermore, 2015 marks the 45th anniversary of the GT-R; how better to mark the occasion than with a glorious video of the
Hakosuka original
The rest of our news has been as diverse as ever. There's a new fast estate from Mercedes-AMG, a Vision Gran Turismo concept from Subaru range shake up imminent for the Caterham Seven.
Can we go and buy some cars in America?
Tying in well with the 911 and GT-R theme, Dan has blogged on that old
4WD v RWD sports car debate
. With 117 comments that little debate is just brewing nicely...
Matt concluded our LA show coverage with a blog on one of California's coolest garages and a fascinating day spent off-roading in Hungry Valley. And yes, that is its real name.
Need further procrastination material to avoid Christmas shopping? Good. Take a look at our latest £100K Garages (Monday and Wednesday), an update from our Capri-owning competition winner and another chat with Scott Redding.
Shed has found himself a mid-engined British sports car and we've had a Fleet update on another. Carpool features a BMW M3 (we won't have another for a while, promise) and may we say, just once more, congratulations to 2014 F1 World Champion Lewis Hamilton. More next week!
