Reports suggest that, if you work at Chrysler and you don't drive a company-built car, then you have to park miles away from the plant.
Apparently, it's become policy at two Chrysler transmission plants in the USA. Four out of five employee parking slots are now reserved for Chrysler-made vehicles -- they're the spaces closest to the plant.
Owners of non-Chrysler vehicles are forced to park further away and walk a greater distance to work. And there's enforcement too. A sign outside the parking lot informs drivers that a non-Chrysler vehicle parked in a Chrysler-designated space will be towed away, at an expense of some $200.
According to a statement in the Detroit Free Press, this management decision has wide support among the workforce.
Imagine what that would mean for the likes of Lotus, Porsche or TVR? Be a tough call, wouldn't it, deciding which car to drive to work...?
