It's not just the Scots who mistake road signs (see story link below). The Government has gone and done it too. According to Auto Express, the Driving Standards Agency (DSA) has had to recall 14,000 learner education packs, because of the incorrect identification of a waiting restriction sign to mean 'no stopping'. Yet this year, the DSA plans to hike the cost of the test by £4 to £66 this year, and to £70 in 2006.
The whoopsie is part of the mock exam that's included on its £30 pre-test tutorial, The Complete Official Learner Driver Pack. Follow that, and you effectively increase your chances of failing by 20 per cent, as only five mistakes are allowed.
The DSA said that it has frozen sales of the affected discs but admitted that 14,000 had been shipped out, and might still be with learners or in shops.
Learners who bought one of the incorrect packs can apparently get a free replacement by telephoning 01234 744044.
