Open sky version coming up
Auto Express brings us news that Bentley is to make a drop-top version of the GT Continental. The folding roof mechanism is reportedly the result of an intense development programme, designed to ensure that the best quality material is used, and that it's acoustically tuned to almost eliminate wind noise.
Inside and out, folding roof aside, it's the same as the Coupe. It gets the same 6.0-litre W12 with 556bhp, making performance of 0-60mph in less than five seconds and a top speed of around 200mph an everyday occurrence -- although a price premium for the drop-top of around £15,000 seems unlikely to be a major deterrent at this end of the market.
The magazine also reckoned that the car will sport the Azure badge, last used on Bentley's 1995 Pininfarina-designed convertible. Competitors? Cars such as the Aston Martin DB9 Volante.
Expect to see the car in the UK next year carrying a price tag of some £128,000.
