Mitsubishi is to launch the Concept-X, which was first shown in Tokyo in October and makes its European debut at the Geneva motor show in March.
It features what Mitsi breathlessly dubs an "Advanced Super All Wheel Control" drivetrain, 2.0-litre, four-pot turbo-charged engine and six-speed clutchless transmission. The company said that it "hints strongly at just what to expect from the next generation of Evolution cars".
As well as a different shape, the car features a gaping air intake, louvered bonnet, hawk-eyed headlamps, 20-inch alloy wheels and the trade-mark rear spoiler.
