New prestige car club emerges

Following the report yesterday of a new performance car hire club in the north of England, Autobahn Club, which describes itself as Ireland's first and only performance car club, has emerged.

Working on a points system, it has a three-tier membership, platinum and bronze for individuals plus corporate. As ever, the more you pay, the greater the privileges. For instance, platinum membership buys you more car time and the ability to book earlier.

Cars include Aston Martins DB9 and V8 Vantage, a brace of Ferraris - F430 and F360 Spider, a Porsche 911 Turbo (996), a Bentley Continental GT, a Maserati Coupé and a Porsche Cayenne Turbo.

It costs £1,000 to join as an individual, plus an annual membership fee starting at £5,000.
