Daihatsu has added sporty looks and high equipment levels to the Sirion with the SX special edition, which goes on sale from 1 April from £9,290 on-the-road.
Based on the top-spec Sirion 1.3 SE, the SX adds a deep front spoiler with mesh grille, front fog lamps, side skirts and rear tailgate spoiler.
Available in solid red, black or silver, the Sirion SX also has special side decals. Standard equipment includes alloy wheels, air-conditioning, four electric windows, driver, passenger and side airbags, a radio/CD player and remote central-locking.
The interior boasts a pod-like oval speedometer which moves up and down with the height-adjustable steering wheel, matched by a pod-like rev-counter.
Launched only last year, the five-door only hatchlet has become Daihatsu’s best-seller and offers segment-busting space, style, value and equipment.
In addition, both performance, fuel economy and exhaust emissions are all class-challenging. For example the Sirion 1.3 has a 106 mph top speed, 0-60 mph time of 10.9 seconds yet returns 58.9 mpg on the Extra Urban Cycle and produces only 137g/km.
