Ford is to release a special edition of the well-received Mustang GT, with the aim of paying homage to the original California Special model produced in 1968.
The 2007 California Special features a new front and rear fascia combination, a larger air intake, a new chin spoiler and a 1.5-inch lower ride height than Mustang GT. The car will also come standard with the Mustang GT’s optional 18-inch polished aluminium wheels and high-performance tyres.
The Mustang GT’s 300bhp 4.6-litre V8 gets a unique bonnet scoop -- and for those who want to add 'go' to show, Ford's Racing Performance Group offers various parts packages including the Racing Power Pack, which adds an extra 20bhp or so. At the rear, it gets a faux diffuser, and various graphics and stripes along the sides.
The Mustang GT/CS arrives in late summer as a full, stand-alone option package on the 2007 Mustang.
