Mosler looks set to become the first production car company to equip its cars with carbon fibre wheels, saving up to 4.6Kg per wheel.
The beneficiary will be the Mosler MT900S, and the wheels come from US-based Dymag, a wheel manufacturer said to have been making carbon fibre bike wheels for over four years.
The wheels will be either 19-inch or 20-inch and will feature a lightweight magnesium centre with carbon fibre rims. A front wheel weighs 6.4Kg compared to 11Kg for a standard alloy, improving handling by reducing unsprung mass.
The MT900S offers 0-60mph in a gut-wrenching 3.12 seconds -- and hits 100mph in 7.2 seconds. The mid-engined, low-slung two-seater is propelled by a GM Corvette-sourced 5.7-litre V8 outputting 435bhp.
