Eleanor, the 1967 Mustang GT500 from the film ‘Gone in Sixty Seconds, is being auctioned off on eBay. The seller says that 11 cars were built for the movie – eight were shells and three were actual working cars.
However it is understood that two of the running cars were destroyed during the film’s climactic bridge jump and scrapyard crusher scenes. The film featured Nicolas Cage, Angelina Jolie and Vinnie Jones and involved a group of car thieves planning their ultimate job.
According to the seller, all the cars in the film were Mustang Fastbacks made to look like Shelbys. They were also automatics, not ‘four-on-the-floor’ models as stated in the film, to make it easier to perform stunts.
With two days to go the price is £35,000 with the reserve not met.
