Florida-based tuner squeezes even more power out of Mac-Merc

When tuner RENNtech unveiled its 711bhp Performance PKG1 package for the Mercedes-McLaren SLR they thought their customers wouldn’t bother them for a while.

But as soon as the company had finished upgrading the intercoolers, adding a larger crankshaft pulley and creating a custom-made ECU, SLR drivers were back asking for more.

Now RENNtech, which is based in south Florida, is offering a 730bhp upgrade for the car at a price of $26,990. Peak power comes at 6,400rpm and there is 700lb ft of torque.

The extra power of the PKG2 has been found by adding a less restrictive motorsport-style exhaust system and re-mapped ECU software. Customers also get a set of Renntech 20” alloys thrown in as well.
