Another week has passed on planet PH, and what have we learnt? As always there's been a load of topics to discuss. There are old cars, new cars, old cars returning, new cars that look like old cars and plenty more besides. Read about them all here.
Just 40 of these returning, at £50K each
So just as summer appears on the horizon, a glut of content on PH featuring all-wheel drive cars. The
Cayenne Diesel S
has been driven, an 'RS'-spec
Range Rover Sport
has been spied and Mitsubishi has launched the
FQ-440
Furthermore, not one but two new Golf R derivatives. Potentially. Though the Golf R estate looks production viable, VW is still making the final choice on whether it will be sold. And an odd-looking prototype purporting to be a GTI could be the Golf R Evo promised for Beijing.
Perhaps one of the most iconic 4WD cars ever, the Audi Sport Quattro, was featured on Monday, along with new tech details on the third generation TT. Nothing more on that TT Sport Quattro concept though. And finally, Peugeot teased its 2008 racer for the 2015 Dakar. Its motorsport kudos continues to climb.
Is this the British GT customers want?
But to redress the balance, a few cars too that are famous for their 2WD-only drivetrain. There are rumours
the next MX-5
will debut at New York next month, Matt's had his first competitive experience in the
Academy Seven
Lotus Carlton
has been welcomed into the PH Hero ranks (again).
Don't think FWD has been neglected either. Chris found an amazing Citroen AX on Tuesday and Keith has been singing the praises of the Renault 5 GT Turbo too.
Some big industry news this week moreover. The Renault-Caterham sports car agreement has been annulled, Alfa Romeo's product strategy could change drastically and we've had a first look at David Brown's Speedback GT.
Monkey has bought a car with 17hp. Really
With an FF joining Chris's fleet recently, it was going to take something really special to follow it. Fortunately, Mr Harris delivered with an early
Citroen 2CV
. Whatever next? He's also driven the
Jaguar F-Type coupe
on road and track; "a whole new thing" may have been uttered again...
Dan nominated a truly mad YKYWT on Wednesday and also contributed another Dream Drive on Thursday. Shed's preferred sub-£1K option was a Passat V5 and POTW ramped up anticipation for next week's McLaren 650S drive.
