After the last race demonstrated that Marc is actually beatable, Silverstone promised a bit of excitement, especially as Lorenzo usually goes well in Britain. Sure enough, with the holeshot secured, Lorenzo was off with Marc hot on his heels...
Lorenzo and Marquez battle it out...
By mid-race Lorenzo was still leading the way with Marc behind and Rossi's challenge faltering after he was held up by Dovi in the early laps. Could The Doctor bridge the gap? You got the feeling it would only happen if Marc and Lorenzo started to come to blows.
Sadly for the chasing pack of Rossi, Dovi and Pedrosa, Marc slipped past Lorenzo with seven to go with very little drama. Or so it looked... A few laps later Jorge was back in the lead as Marc was looking wild. Well, wilder. A few strong overtakes with three laps to go was enough to get the Silverstone crowd on their feet and it looked like Marc had broken Jorge's confidence. Or had he? Out of the two riders, Marc looked the most out of control while Lorenzo was cool and collected. But it wasn't enough, one more win to Marc and what a shame it all went wrong for him at Brno.
How did the Brits do at Silverstone? Bradley was running well until something broke on his bike, Scotty Redding rode an amazing race to finish 10th while Cal was a disappointing 12th, behind Scott which had to sting. Camier was 16th and Laverty 17th.
And in case you couldn't guess the outcome...
A change of schedule didn't seem to upset the Moto2 racers and with Jeremy McWilliams at the ripe old age of 50 on the grid there were three Brits for the crowds to cheer on - although only Sam Lowes seemed likely to be in with a shot of top ten glory. A good start saw Lowes holding sixth place on a track he knows well while at the front Kalio and Zarco were too busy fighting to gap the field. In the end Rabat took a close win with Sam an impressive seventh and well within sight of the leaders - good effort.
Moto3 and could Danny Kent get another podium? In the end it was a four bike battle with Rins just taking the win from Marquez in a cracking race.
