Lotus
test drivers Dave Minter and Alistair McQueen have, working jointly with
Yokohama, developed a new tyre for the series 1 Lotus Elise and 340R.
Previously unseen in the UK, Lotus dealers Bell & Colvill unveiled the
tyres over the weekend at the Lotus Show at Donington.
The catchily named Yokohama Advan Neova LTS tyres are an all new asymmetric
and unidirectional tread design which according to Yohohama should enhance the
ride quality and handling balance. The unique tyre features an 'aquacut
gullwing' curved tread pattern with superior high speed water channeling
power and compounding technology, derived from years of experience on the track.
Balance in both wet and dry conditions should be improved.
They'll be available in two sizes: 195/50/15 for the front and 225/45/16 for
the rear. Fitment of these tyres won't invalidate warranties. Prices are very
reasonable at £105.35 each inc VAT for the rears and £75.00 each inc VAT for
the fronts, a combined total of £425 all round.
The Advan Neova LTS tyres will only be available from Lotus dealers with
first deliveries expected in May.
