The Milan Motorcycle Show is set to kick off next week, but that hasn’t stopped Kawasaki and Ariel jumping the gun with two new high specification models. Well, it would be a shame to see them lost in the myriad of new metal.
In no particular order we will start with the new Kawasaki Z1000 R Edition. Now Euro4 compliant without losing any power, the R Edition adds a set of Brembo M50 calipers and discs to the stopping power while an Ohlins damper and modified rear linkage tweak the back end’s performance. The dash is also upgraded and now includes a shift light and gear indicator, which will surely be kept busy in this 142hp super naked...
Somewhat more refined is the new Ariel Ace R. Set to be unveiled at the NEC bike show in late November, the Ace R gains a tuned version of the Honda V4 (VFR1200) motor that Ariel uses that is said to have “a substantial increase in power” by Ariel. Although not keen on releasing too many details, Ariel has said the Ace R will “have lots of carbon, machined aluminium and power!” But then again, so do some espresso machines… It will be limited in its production to just 10 bikes and should look pretty stunning if the standard Ace is anything to judge it by.
